Slender Multiplayer v1.6 (Oct 26, 2022)

Slender Multiplayer v1.6 is out!

New Map!
4th Anniversary / Halloween Update!

Slender Highschool:

After about a full year of development, the Slender Highschool map is now available to play!
The Slender Highschool map is a once-thriving Highschool that was abandoned after the disappearance of many of its children. There are plenty of rooms to check out, but beware... Slenderman has taken over the Highschool for his own, and creeps around in the darkness waiting for another victim...
Here are some photos of the map!

Okay, so that was a lot of photos, but here are some interesting things about the map. To get to the basement, the survivors must first find a key hidden in one of the few storage closets around the Highschool. There are always 1-2 pages in the basement, so make sure to check down there! Another neat thing is that there is a different way to revive teammates. There are way fewer respawn points on this map since it is smaller. Here is a gif of the respawn animation! :)

The player you are trying to revive must be placed within the center of the pentagram, and then you can light the 5 candles to trigger the respawn sequence. Once you respawn a player, that respawn location is no longer functional for the rest of the round.

New Mechanics:

  • Slender Blindness

In order to prevent the player-controlled Slenderman from blocking the last few pages, Slender's screen will now slowly turn white while a flashlight is shined on him.

When Slender is completely blinded, he will be forcibly teleported a short distance away once the flashlight is taken off of him. This effect doesn't apply to the CPU Slender, as it cannot purposely block any pages. Slender's blindness starts to fade away 1-2 seconds after the flashlight is taken off of him. It is purposely designed so that survivors can't force Slender to teleport away in one go (staring at him the whole time), and will have to look away multiple times to clear the static which gives Slender a chance to get away in the case that he isn't blocking a page.

Multiplayer Improvements:

  • Added around 8x more fallback servers which now are from various parts of the world. This should greatly decrease the likelihood that you aren't able to connect to someone, or that you will see a bunch of loading player icons and then be kicked from the game. This is a pretty big improvement from how the multiplayer used to be so hopefully things improve with this change.

General Changes:

  • Added a graphics option in the in-game options menu to decrease (or increase) the number of objects on the screen at once. this should help those with lower end pcs or phones
  • Significantly increased the player-controlled Slenderman's speed, it should be a little more bearable to play as Slenderman now :P
  • The player-controlled Slenderman can no longer move at all when a flashlight is shined on them, but can still teleport away
  • Added a loading screen for the main menu, and some fading each time you return to the main menu
  • Reduced the number of objects (trees and grasses) on the Slender Forest map, hopefully will improve performance and loading times
  • Updated some of the textures on the 'Customize' section, they now have textures from the Highschool map. also moved the scroll up and down for the skins to a more reasonable location
  • Made the 'Slender CPU' mode the default game mode when creating a lobby
  • The survivor's flashlight now automatically turns on after a few seconds when starting a game
  • Added about 10 more skins (shirts, pants, shoes) with more intricate patterns
  • Improved the lighting quality on flashlights and other things that emit light, the flashlight will no longer look very jagged when turned on an angle
  • Added sound effects to all the buttons in the main menu and in the multiplayer lobbies, and added background noise to the main menu as well so it is not silent
  • Added some more text at the beginning of each round, 'Collect all 8 Pages' for survivors, and 'Kill all the Survivors' for Slenderman
  • Added a text that shows the lobby code while in game for multiplayer lobbies (top left of options menu)
  • Reduced the time it takes for the page you pick up to disappear, 2.5sec instead of 5sec
  • Increased the survivor's sprinting speed to 60% faster, used to be ~45%

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug where you couldn't sprint in singleplayer after having played one singleplayer match already while the game has been open
  • Fixed a bug where you couldn't send emotes in game, and could only send them in the lobby
  • Fixed a bug where you would get static on your screen before Slenderman was visible on your screen
  • Fixed an annoying bug where the player would get pushed to the right whenever bumping into any solid object
  • Fixed a minor bug where the 'Charging...' text would appear above the previous location of the player for one frame
  • Can no longer see player's flashlight 'Charging...' text through darkness
  • Fixed most of the bug where you could see pixels of your player's skin through the shirt at the edge of the skin sometimes (very annoying)
  • Fixed a bug where you could easily break the gate boundary in the forest map just by walking into it, causing your player to be randomly teleported around the map
  • Fixed a bug where a player dropping a body would also start charging their flashlight from the same press
  • Removed collisions from a dead players body while they are being carried, it prevents the body from being nudged around when the player is rubbing against other objects
  • Fixed a bug where the emotes used right before the start of the round would still be visible when the players returned to the lobby

Secrets:

Without trying to spoil too much, I've added many hidden secrets around the whole game (including the login?!?!). Some are simple to find, but others are very intricate and may even have a puzzle or two to solve. Happy hunting!
